From 1 September 2025, Norway will implement an updated version of its industry classification system, SN2025, to meet European standards and improve consistency in statistics and reporting.

This change will affect how companies are classified based on their business activities. It may also influence reporting practices, compliance, and sector-based analysis.

What SN2025 means for Norwegian companies

For most companies, this update will bring a new industry code. While many will be automatically reclassified, some businesses may be contacted to verify or adjust their registered activity.

Other changes include:

  • Separate codes for renewable and non-renewable energy production
  • E-commerce and physical retail will be grouped together
  • Updated categories for education and childhood care services

How Trapets supports the transition

As a trusted provider of company and market data, Trapets is aligned with SN2025.

Our solutions are updated to reflect the new classification codes, ensuring that customers accessing company information will receive updated data.

For customers using Trapets for screening, this means:

  • Continuity in your workflows with automatic updates
  • Accurate categorisation of counterparties and clients
  • Reliable data for regulatory and internal reporting

It’s important to note that each company is responsible for reporting its new code to the official Norwegian register.

Trapets retrieves this data directly from the register, which means updates may be delayed if companies don't submit their new classification on time.
