The UK government has announced a significant change to how sanctions information will be published and managed. From 28 January 2026 at 09:00 GMT, the UK Sanctions List (UKSL) will become the sole official list of all UK sanctions designations.

Currently, there are two separate lists:

  • The UK Sanctions List, managed by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and
  • The OFSI Consolidated List of Asset Freeze Targets, maintained by HM Treasury’s Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI).

From January 2026, these will be merged into one single, comprehensive list.

This change aims to simplify compliance processes and ensure that all sanctions data, including financial, trade, and transport-related measures, are available in a single location.

Organisations that rely on sanctions data are advised to review their systems and ensure they transition to the UK Sanctions List before the changeover.

The OFSI list and its identifiers (such as Group IDs) will no longer be updated after this date.
